Cyborgs in the Mist is an enquiry which takes the form of a movie, a soundinstallation, photo prints, and a book. The film presents the LOPH research laband its utopian proposals to struggle against the planned obsolescence ofhumankind. Taking into account the development of robotics and artificial formsof intelligence, the LOPH research lab experiments with ways to help humansadapt to their new environment, and to put them in a position to fight against their planned obsolescence. How can we anticipate this shift in the logic of evolution?How can we adapt to this change with a minimum of violence? Academic teams,science-fiction writers, and new forms of artificial intelligence work together toanticipate the most disastrous scenarios.

Langlibabex is a multilingual collaboration that departs from our shared experience of reading and responding in constrained poetic forms to Jorge Luis Borges’s short story “The Library of Babel.” As collaborators who met at ELO 2014 and shared conversation in three languages, we are committed to working in French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and translating one another’s work across continents and media.

Objective Poet is a multimedia object that consists of a computer modelled kinetic sculpture in the shape of modified cube accompanied by sound design, reflecting its microclimate. We plan to install the Objective Poet in a public space where people talk a lot: on a central square, in a cafeteria, etc., in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A sound capturing device is going to be attached to the artefact to collect the verbal interactions of the passersby in the close proximity. Analyzed using Maximus P modules, the sounds of these conversations will be converted into a sound poem. The text will be vocalized or transmitted in a multichannel configuration.

Right media archeological installation built of modified fax machines performing the same print job in a loop for days. These self –printing machines change their job over time from printing the monostych to drawing a pattern.Two loops of fax paper (5 and 12 metres approximately) are used. One has the text of a poem, while the second one has it printed on itself (repeated many times in loop – fax technology allows copying). On one hand it represents mechanic circling forming of a machine given a task it cannot stop performing, on the other hand the text repeated acquires the aspect of graphicality, linguistic signs trasformed to graphic image, a pattern of graphic symbols. The thermal printing technology used in faxes (instead of ink) allowed for installation to go on during a month without a break. The rustling sound fax produced was collected and enchanced as an important compositional feature.

I have an old theory that all the actual things (structures, ideas and so on…) are already in the air. Every poet is like a radio. He has to have an antenna (spiritual self) for getting the things (waves, ideas…) from the air. But he has to have tuning knob for getting signal clear – and that is his professional skills. And also he needs loudspeakers for making the sound powerful and recognizable – that’s his talent. Sometimes people have an antenna but their tuning knob is not precise enough. Sometimes their loudspeakers are too quiet… Actually I wrote one poem about a person – a young girl – who is at the same time a radio wave and in 2001 we, with the animator Diana Palijchuk, made a poetry video based on this poem. On the occasion of the ELO 2010 conference celebrating Robert Coover, I have devised a 24-channel sound installation/performance.  Given the theme of the conference (Archive & Innovate), I chose to investigate the sonic literary archive, utilizing recordings of Robert Coover in the reading his own work as a framework for this composition.  Through a computational process of spectral analysis, editing, and re-synthesis, solo speech is transformed into a chorus of diffused instrumental timbres.  Time is stretched, allowing the ebb and flow of the original readings to be heard very slowly - creating an ambient, electro-acoustic arena.
