The Walking Dead (also known as The Walking Dead: The Game and The Walking Dead: Season One) is an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure survival horror video game developed and published by Telltale Games. Based on The Walking Dead comic book series, the game consists of five episodes, released between April and November 2012. It is available for Android, iOS, Kindle Fire HDX, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is the first of The Walking Dead video game series published by Telltale

Unlike many graphic adventure games, The Walking Dead does not emphasize puzzle solving, but instead focuses on story and character development. The story is affected by both the dialogue choices of the player and their actions during quick time events, which can often lead to, for example, certain characters being killed, or an adverse change in the disposition of a certain character or characters towards the player. The choices made by the player carry over from episode to episode. Choices were tracked by Telltale, and used to influence their writing in later episodes.

the space between us connects two people’s phones that are physically close. Once connected the app will display the spatial distance between each person and show an arrow pointing towards the other person.

As we move in different directions, our distances expand and contract. Our arrows move. Like a compass our phones will orient themselves towards each other, as if the other phone has become north. The arrow points away from the screen. Always, we are somewhere.

Across horizons, deserts, days, nights, the grids of cities, we face each other.

Instructions:

  • In the disconnected mode the arrow spins in a circle.
  • The phones will connect automatically when they are close to each other. Both phones must have the app open, and must have wifi or cell signal. There cannot be another phone with the app open within 50 yards. 
  • The arrow will appear once a distance of 0.1 km or 0.1 miles is reached.
  • Tap the unit of measurement to change between km and miles.
  • To disconnect both phones one user must tap the arrow ten times.

DO IT is an interactive app. of Electronic Literature for smartphones and tablets (both for Android and iOS). DO IT offers four interactive experiences: adapt, rock, light up and forget. Each scene comes as an answer to contemporary injunctions: being flexible, dynamic, finding one’s way, forgetting in order to move forward… You will have to shake words - more or less strongly - in the Rock scene, or to use the gyroscope in the Light up scene. These four scenes are integrated into an interactive narrative (Story). They can also be experienced independently (Scenes).

This diptych or bi-fold work presents readers with two re-workings of Lewis Carroll’s “Jabberwocky:” on one hand, a fixed, cyclical hypertext in seven parts (Ouroboros), and on the other, an endless generative deformation that refigures the mock-epic as tennis game in Hell (Jabberwock). Both options are available at the start, but only in faint, translucent lettering. Description (in English)

This cute interactive story offers a reimagining of “Little Red Riding Hood.” Designed to appeal to literate and preliterate audiences (as young as two years old), the game offers twelve exploratory animated scene peppered with hidden mini games. The work uses touch and tilt to allow the interactor to discover the story while engaging the affordances of mobile devices. Interactors are free to explore the tale at their own pace, as the wolf stalks over to granny’s house. However, created for even the youngest of audiences, the wolf merely shoves granny into a closet, rather than eating her. Rendered in white, black, and grey (with a hint of red), this app’s aesthetic draws upon the style of Japanese anime and contemporary animation. Backed by an immersive soundtrack, the piece offers a delightfully modern retelling of this classic tale.

“Flewn” is a melancholic and surrealistic story in book app format about an old whale walking on stilts through a desert in search of a lost ocean, carrying on its back jars with sea creatures it has rescued. Beautifully executed, “Flewn” offers two reading modes: the story mode, in which the reader explores the whale’s story by scrolling through the illustrations, accompanied with music, animation, video, and text; and the game mode, which offers an interactive exploration of the story space from the perspective of a little frog whose helicopter must be kept on air by pedalling and in this way help to spot the ocean everybody is looking for.

Lack of lemmatization often undermines the quality of concordances, which is especially relevant for diachronic corpora. A significant part of lemmatizers are designed for Modern English. This paper presents MiddleEnglishLem, an application designed for dictionary-based lemmatization of Middle English texts. We use a hybrid algorithm to lemmatize the Helsinki Corpus of English Texts, a long-time-span diachronic corpus that includes Middle English texts of different genres, a total of 608 570 words. MiddleEnglishLem is capable of associating multiple inflected forms and orthographic varieties with canonical forms. Lemmatization becomes more accurate owing to comprehensive premade dictionaries. The competitiveness of this lemmatizer is proved by the low average errors – less than 2.5 percent, whereas its prebuilt stemmer has a strength of 0.38, a relatively high value. Accuracy of the lemmatization process can be improved by implementing syntagmatic analysis at the part-of-speech identification step. MiddleEnglishLem can be applied to diachronic corpora in order to research the development of English.

Created in Unity using the Vuforia plug-in, 200 Castles is an augmented reality piece for iPad about time, longing, and magical spaces set in both the domestic spaces of a castle across multiple decades and in the spaces of memory. The viewer unlocks the story by using the iPad as a magic looking glass to look at a series of images in a photo album (‘trackables’ – the images contain features that the camera on the iPad is seeking). When the iPad’s camera ‘sees’ the images, the augmented reality technology overlays a small digital scene with accompanying audio.
