"Datamatics is an art project that explores the potential to perceive the invisible multi-substance of data that permeates our world. It is a series of experiments in various forms - audiovisual concerts, installations, publications and CD releases - that seek to materialise pure data." As part of several datamatics exhibition and audiovisual performances, is the "test pattern" system. "test pattern is a system that converts any type of data (text, sounds, photos and movies) into barcode patterns and binary patterns of 0s and 1s. Through its application, the project aims to examine the relationship between critical points of device performance and the threshold of human perception." One exhibition setup of datamatics is data.tron. "data.tron [8K enhanced version]" is part of the datamatics project. The new work is an enhanced version of the audiovisual installation data.tron, where each single pixel of visual image is strictly calculated by mathematical principle, composed from a combination of pure mathematics and the vast sea of data present in the world. In this latest version visitors are literally immersed in the work, as data is seamlessly projected onto the gallery wall and floor from eight sources." "The basic idea of the project is built upon the consideration of creating a moving sculpture from the recorded motion data of a real person. For our work we asked a dancer to visualize a musical piece (Kreukeltape by Machinenfabriek) as closely as possible by movements of her body. She was recorded by three depth cameras (Kinect), in which the intersection of the images was later put together to a three-dimensional volume (3d point cloud), so we were able to use the collected data throughout the further process. The three-dimensional image allowed us a completely free handling of the digital camera, without limitations of the perspective. The camera also reacts to the sound and supports the physical imitation of the musical piece by the performer. She moves to a noise field, where a simple modification of the random seed can consistently create new versions of the video, each offering a different composition of the recorded performance. The multi-dimensionality of the sound sculpture is already contained in every movement of the dancer, as the camera footage allows any imaginable perspective." "natyr" est la troisième vidéo dans laquelle l'artiste norvégien Ottar Ormstad combine à de la poésie concrète, image, musique et son. Dans ce cas, la vidéo se construit sur le travail du peintre norvégien Knut Rumohr (1916-2002) ayant surtout réalisé des peintures abstraites à la tempera, inspirées par la nature d'un fjord sur la côte ouest de la Norvège. Ormstad, une fois de plus, continue de mélanger des mots de différentes langues. Un concept qu'il a présenté dans "La Non-Traduction comme Expérience Poétique" à la conférence Translating E-Lit, en 2012 à Paris. Le mot "natyr" ne peut exister dans aucune langue, mais peut être éprouvé grâce à différentes associations liées à la nature. La vidéo (HD 16:9) est faite pour une diffusion plein écran (4:45 min). Exceptée l'animation d’Ina Pillat, direction et création sont de Ormstad, photographie et musique incluses.

In the process of discovering, decoding, reconfiguring, and remixing Speculation, thousands of players transformed the game into a collaborative platform for speculating on the future of finance capital. A homenage to the culture and folclore of brazilian Northeast. “Xilo” tells the story of the sertanejo Biliu. To save his family of a serious illness, he must take all parts of the sacred “xilogravuras”, facing challenges and brazilian legends, like “Mula-Sem-Cabeça”, “Curupira” and the “Boitatá”, among others. Its a 2D action game that call attention for his xilogravura inspired aesthetics, as for the use of cordel rimes, all with the sound of “forró” performed by Cabruêra band. nam shub web is a website processor. it takes the textual content of external websites and applies user defined rules to generate visual poetry out of it. these rules consist of operations that change the text or modify the visual appearance.

each set of rules can be stored and published for others to view and alter. however nam shub web does not store any actual content. it only records commands of how to alter the external website content. in case of a dynamic website as the source the visual and textual results change with the dynamic content.

according to Neal Stephenson's novel Snow Crash, the ancient sumerian nam shub of Enki was a neurolinguistic hack aimed against the standardarization and unification of society and human life through verbal rules and laws. therefore nam shub web can be seen as a computerlinguistic hack targeted against a global unified culture and empire.

The Wave Electronic Illuminated Hypertext is a multisensory etext derived from a series of new media performances. The work explores and articulates a collection of meditations on myth, metaphor, and digital embodiment.An interactive assemblage of images, videodance, sound, animation, iconography, and text, The Wave creates an electronic architecture of hyper-dimensional poetic language. This electronic architecture expands and redefines the dramatic text as a fluid, animated, interactive infrastructure that exists in a liminal hyperspace between text and performance. The work expands and redefines the dance as dynamic, sensate, experiential process of inner transformation integrating the mind, body, and senses in metaphorical movement.Cumulatively, The Wave is an original "posthuman myth" derivative of Joseph Campbell's monomyth. The dancing body of a woman warrior embodies the fundamental metaphor. She encounters gods, goddesses, enigmas and archetypes, all of which are reflections of herself in virtual space. Her psyche is reflected, refracted, expanded, and transformed into vertical, virtual dimensions. She becomes a meta-body: an elusive, shape-shifting equation of light, intelligence, rupture, and complexity."The body is not just repositioned by new technologies but supplemented, extended, and remade into a material-information entity whose boundaries are continuously constructed and reconstructed in its interactions with instruments whose total cognitive capacity exceeds our individual knowledge." – Adalaide Morris, New Media PoeticsFinally, The Wave is an electronic exploration of the format of the illuminated manuscript, most commonly associated with poet/artist William Blake. In traditional illuminated manuscripts, gold ink was used to represent the "light of God" illuminating the text. In this work, the light is electronic and represents the force of contemporary mythic experience through the exponentially expanding apertures of the digital.

These little poems ask the reader for a physical effort that disturbs reading. Each poem asks for a different use of the mouse and rebels again what you want to do. The poem acts you ! You totally engage yourself, your body, while reading. Reading is a confrontation with an untamable: you can only grab som scraps of text to construct a meaning, your meaning.
