Short biography
John Murray is a PhD Student at the Expressive Intelligence Studio, a research group at the University of California, Santa Cruz advised by Noah Wardrip-Fruin. He graduated in 2009 from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Digital Narratives advised by Matthew Kirschenbaum and a B.S. in Computer Science the following spring.
His research investigates both natural language generation and augmented reality and its relation to narratives and storytelling. His undergraduate thesis, StorySigns, displays the organization of narratives in a visual interface that allows editing as well as annotating. In the summer of 2011, he worked on a Xanadu client with Ted Nelson called XanaDesk.
