Short biography

Dieter Daniels is professor for Art History and Media Theory at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) in Leipzig, starting in 1993. In 1984, he co-founded the Videonale Bonn and has contirbuted to numerous projects, exhibtions, and symposia in the field of media art. From 1991-93, he headed the Mediatheque at the Center for Art and media (ZKM), Karlsruhe. He has extensively published on twentieth-century art, a.o. on Marcel Duchamp, Fluxus, media art. He is coeditor of Media Art Action and Media Art Interaction, Artists as Inventors - Inventors as Artists (2008), Re-Inventing Radio - Aspects of Radio as Art (2008) and recent book publications include Kunst als Sendung (2002) and Vom Ready-Made zum Cyberspace (2003). From 2001 - 2005, he coedited Media Art Net (http://www.mediaartnet.org). Since 2005 he has served as director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Media.Art.Research.
