Short description

Interrupt is an international festival celebrating writing and performance in digital media. In computing, an interrupt is a command sent to the processor to get its attention, indicating a need for change. We understand the interrupt as a general paradigm for imagining the role of digital writing practices in contemporary society. The Festival events include three scholarly roundtables, an “Interruptheque” featuring unconventionally-situated screens displaying works of digital literature, a reading, three fringe performance events, a public lecture by Erkki Huhtamo and a workshop with Young-hae Chang Heavy Industries.

From the organizer's website: E-Poetry is both a conference and a festival on digital poetry. Authors and researchers worldwide meet and present their research and works. This permits researchers to present their latest research and artists to premier their most recent works. A selection of the papers is published after the conference following the peer review system and we will also like to publish proceedings of the conference.

Short description

TechnoPoetry Festival 2002 showcases the work of leading artist/poets who use digital techniques. They compose with new linguistic media, including holograms, bio-states, network flows, game structures, interactive multimedia Web installations, and experimental video projects. These forms are often combined with older poetic forms: speech, image, song, alphabetic text, and Chinese characters. Many of the works explore the meaning of the relationships between body, biology, and technology. This event brings internationally recognized artists from Europe and New York to the campus, and it also features the work of Georgia Tech media artists and theorists, Diane Gromala, Sha Xin Wei, and Eugene Thacker. TechnoPoetry Festival 2002 is produced by poet Stephanie Strickland, and takes place April 1 and 2 from 4:00 to 10:00 PM in the Wesley Center for New Media. Interactive exhibits and reception 4:00 to 7:00 PM, artist presentations and discussion from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. On Tuesday night there will also be a dance performance at 9:30 PM.
